GIS Case Study: City of Grandbury, Texas

2016 – Present

Challenge

In 2016 NewEdge entered into a contract with the City of Granbury to host their GIS data and implement an Enterprise Geodatabase in the NewEdge Cloud Environment along with ArcGIS Server while integrating their existing data into the ESRI Local Government Information Model (LGIM). NewEdge then produced web maps and applications utilizing the city’s ArcGIS Online account to produce meaningful and efficient maps for public and organization consumption. Individuals identified as editors were given access to feature services which allows them to currently maintain their data as though it is still on-site while also allowing them to update their data instantly.

As the partnership has progressed more projects were developed to help the city leverage the use of their data. ESRI Collector Applications were created to allow the Public Works Department to collect and update their data in the field. This led to the creation of ESRI Workforce projects in conjunction with Survey123 to help them track their required inspections on key assets. NewEdge is also currently working with the Public Works Department to collect, georeference, and digitize new and existing assets using city provided As-Builts and Design Plans. NewEdge began with a data dump of all the plans that they had scanned and has caught up to the present and is receiving plans once they are approved by the city.
