NewEdge has a long-standing relationship with the City of Longview that began in 2009 when NewEdge was contracted to implement the Cityworks Asset Management / Work Order Management software for the Public Works Department. This first phase of implementation included installation of software, database configuration and training for the Water, Wastewater, Streets, Traffic and Drainage divisions of Public Works. Subsequent projects included bringing the Parks and Recreation Department and the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants into the enterprise Cityworks solution.
In September of 2012, NewEdge began year one of a three-year contract to host the City’s GIS and Cityworks operation within the NewEdge cloud environment. The City is no longer responsible for maintenance of the hardware or software used by the enterprise system. NewEdge has also taken on the administration responsibilities of the GIS and Cityworks systems. The City still maintains their own GIS data on a local SDE database and replicates this database to the NewEdge cloud servers nightly. All cloud operations are handled by NewEdge personnel.
NewEdge has continued to integrate additional departments, throughout the City, into the enterprise GIS and Asset Management System to meet each department’s specific needs. The most recent additions include the Department of Developmental Services that required different workflows and an additional software (Cityworks PLL) as compared to other departments within the City.
NewEdge has worked with our business partners, Latitude Geographics and CitySourced, to bring their solutions online for the City. This has involved integrating these products with the SDE database and the Cityworks system. NewEdge is also assisting the City in serving data and applications through ArcGIS Online to allow for new functionality as Esri continues to release new products to assist field personnel.
