GIS Case Study: City of Rockwall, Texas

2017 – Present

Challenge

Cityworks Server AMS Implementation
In 2017 NewEdge entered into a contract with the City of Rockwall to implement the Cityworks Server AMS software for 6 divisions including Public Works, Parks and Fleet. The City had a in-house application to track work orders. The IT department no longer wanted to support this application and entered into a contract with the NewEdge/Cityworks team to replace the application. Records from the in-house application were brought into the Cityworks database prior to go-live.

Tasks for the implementation included workflow assessments, database reviews and two weeks on-site for training and on-site support. The implementation was an on-premise installation. City staff maintain the hardware, software, database and GIS data for Cityworks. NewEdge held administrative training prior to go-live.

Cityworks PLL Implementation
After go-live, NewEdge staff contined to support the City of Rockwall staff with 6-month and 1-year on-site training classes. In 2019 NewEdge began the implementation of the Cityworks Server PLL software for Permitting, Engineering and Code Enforcement. The goal of Cityworks was to replace the TRAKiT software. The City went live with PLL in June of 2020. Future projects with the City of Rockwall include continued training for AMS and PLL users and implementation of the Esri Enterprise software.
